Great well kept campsite with plenty of space even when we went during school holidays. Toilets in good condition and clean and park rangers made sure the noise was down for all the campers. Access was easy through a couple km of gravel road with a few potholes but nothing a 2WD couldn't handle. Plenty of wildlife around the site, scenic nearby walks and some stunning lookouts if you choose to drive further into the state forest. I hope to be back soon!
The place is clean and tidy, good for young families to experience the outdoors. Has toilets and running creek water taps. The problem is when we went there it was the start of the school holidays and the place was booked out and kids everywhere, you were camped on top of each other and people doing their own thing. I think people forget that tents are not soundproof 🤔 people partying till late and kids are up so early noise from both dusk and dawn ( we have no kids) is good for a family not good for a quiet time. It is a nice place to glamp:)
Great first camping for us, very beautiful area, nice walks, swimming, noisy at peak times people partying but settles down after 10pm usually on those nights.
I second that person who says don't go up mt Allan unless your a mountain climber, I would add don't go in middle of day in heat and bring lots of water not much shade.
A Wonderful quiet experience. Toilets are clean with soft toilet paper 🤣. A popular spot but so far everyone is quiet and respectful. Water is available but not for drinking. The mower man at 7:15am is a bit much.
We took 1 1/2 hours to walk to Mount Allan and 1:20 to come down. It is very steep and need a good level of fitness. Hiking poles help
Charlie Moreland is an absolute gem! If driving from Brisbane, try out the Steve Irwin way - Kenilworth Maleny way - Landsborough - Maleny - sunday creek road route, it is the most picturesque way to get there! Picture the Glasshouse mountains up close and personal, which gives way to rolling sunkissed hills, dotted with grazing cows. When you turn onto Sunday creek road, this is the bit where drivers need to be slightly cautious if using a 2wd. If it's been raining it can be a bit of a challenging drive. The creek was emerald green, crystal clear and very cold in August, which made for very refreshing swims after the Mount Allan hike. Each campsite has a built in fireplace which is handy. Well maintained flushing toilets, hand wash and water. Plenty of campsites are available but book in advance. There is no reception so enjoy being off grid. The kooky kookaburras, lizards and wallabies will be a wonderful addition to your trip!
I absolutely love this place. I have been coming here for 30 odd years now. My dad took me here camping as a kid and now I get to share it with my kid. It will always hold a very special place in my heart.
Absolutely stunning, wide open campsites. Suitable for tents or caravans, sedans or 4wd. Plenty of firepits. Beautifully kept flushing toilets. Well maintained sites and lovely rangers. Nice swimming areas suitable for kids and deeper areas too. We saw Bush Turkey's plenty of other birds and wallabies. Will definitely returning as soon as possible and highly recommend.
Camped on the southern side of the road. The ground throughout had a gentle slope toward the creek, making it a little difficult to locate a flat area for the tent but we succeeded (grassed area, well trodden and rather dusty). North of the road seems to be a little flatter. Toilets have been knocked about a bit but we're clean and quite usable.
